A four star beach hotel at Ammoudara, eight kilometres west of Heraklion, is recruiting room attendants for the season from April to October. The hotel has two hundred and twenty rooms, mostly half board, with guests from Germany, Britain and the Nordic countries. Staff accommodation and meals are provided on site.
About role
You are given a floor list each morning with departures marked first. In a stay over room you make the bed, change towels on request, clean the bathroom, dust, vacuum and restock the amenities. A departure room is stripped completely, the mattress protector checked, the bathroom descaled and the room set to the standard sheet. Lost property and maintenance faults go to the floor supervisor. Fourteen to sixteen rooms is a normal day, and you work six days with one day off.
Who's a fit?
No qualification required, the hotel standard is taught in the first week
Able to work at pace, fourteen to sixteen rooms in a shift
Careful and honest in rooms where guests leave belongings
Understands colour coded cloths and correct dilution of chemicals
Willing to work six days a week through the season
Basic English for guest requests at the door and the room list
Residence and work authorisation for Greece, arranged before arrival

Net salary from 900 up to 990 EUR per month

Promotion terms
Attendants who return for a second season are offered the floor supervisor post or the laundry, both of which carry an allowance and a longer contract. The hotel rehires the same team each April and writes the reference that other Cretan hotels ask for.
Work environment
Air conditioned corridors and rooms, a trolley for each attendant and a lift to every floor, so linen is not carried up stairs. Gloves, an apron and non slip shoes are supplied, and the chemical store is locked and labelled in Greek and English.
