Care Worker

You help residents wash, dress and move between bed, chair and table, using the hoist and the transfer belt where the care plan says so. You serve meals, help those who need feeding, record what was eaten and how much was drunk, and report any change in skin, appetite or mood to the nurse on shift. Continence care and bed making are part of the round. Shifts are 07:00-15:00, 15:00-23:00 and a night shift, with two weekends off in four.

Secondary school completed and a care or nursing assistant certificate

At least one year of work with older or dependent people

Able to use a hoist and a transfer belt correctly

Patient and steady with residents who have dementia

Willing to work weekends and night shifts in rotation

Conversational Greek or English, since residents speak Greek

Residence and work authorisation for Greece, arranged before arrival

Net salary from 950 up to 1045 EUR per month

Permanent contract after a three month trial period

Full EFKA insurance and the Greek fourteen salary year

Night and Sunday supplements paid at the statutory rate

Meals taken in the house on every worked shift

Paid training in moving and handling, first aid and dementia care

Uniform and non slip shoes provided and laundered on site

A care worker who completes the Greek nursing assistant programme moves to the assistant grade and takes medication rounds under the nurse. The house pays the course fee for staff who stay past the first year.

A two floor house with lifts, adjustable beds and a ceiling hoist in the heavy care rooms. Gloves, aprons and hand gel are at every station, and the house follows a written moving and handling policy.
