Building Cleaner

You work a fixed round of four to six sites a day. At each one you empty the bins, wipe desks and door handles, clean the sanitary rooms with the marked colour coded cloths, mop the floors and restock paper and soap. Glass doors and lifts are done twice a week, and the stair landings once. You record each visit on the site sheet, note anything that needs a repair and lock up behind you. The shift runs 06:00-14:00 from Monday to Friday, with Saturday worked only by agreement.

No formal qualification required, training is given on the job

Able to stand and walk for a full eight hour shift

Reliable with keys and alarm codes for client premises

Punctual at an early start, since most sites are cleaned before opening

Basic English or Greek for the site sheet and the product labels

Residence and work authorisation for Greece, arranged before arrival

Net salary from 900 up to 990 EUR per month

Permanent contract after a three month trial period

Full EFKA insurance and the Greek fourteen salary year

Uniform, gloves and non slip shoes provided and replaced

A cleaner who learns the machine work, scrubber dryer and rotary polisher, moves onto the deep clean crew, which is paid a higher rate. Crew leaders on the Heraklion contracts are chosen from the cleaners already on the round.

Indoor work in occupied buildings, mostly before office hours, with a trolley and a marked chemical store at each site. Gloves, non slip shoes and eye protection for the descaling products are supplied by the employer.
