Elderly Care Worker

You help residents with washing, dressing, moving and eating, following the care plan written for each person. You change and position residents who cannot turn themselves, check the skin at every change and report a mark to the nurse the same shift. Meals are served and the intake is written down, as are fluids for anyone on a chart. You keep the room tidy, change the linen and walk with residents who are able. Handover to the next shift is spoken and written. The shifts are 07:00-15:00, 15:00-23:00 and the night, with a fixed rota.

Secondary school finished, a care certificate is welcome but not required

At least one year with older people at home or in an institution

Safe lifting and transfers with a belt and a hoist

Writing a clear shift note and giving a spoken handover

Willing to work nights and weekends on a fixed rota

English at a level that covers care notes and family contact

Net salary from 700 up to 790 EUR per month

Permanent contract with social and health insurance from day one

Paid supplement for night shifts and for public holidays

Two meals a day in the house during the shift

In house care course and the lifting training paid by the employer

A fixed rota published one month in advance

Uniform, gloves and non slip shoes provided

Care workers who complete the in house course and a year on the floor take the senior care worker place, which carries the handover, the care plans and a supplement.

A quiet house on two levels with a lift, wide doors, hoists in the assisted rooms and a nurse station on each floor. A uniform, gloves and non slip shoes are supplied and the lifting equipment is serviced yearly.
