Construction Electrician

You chase walls and lay conduit, pull cable to the plan, terminate sockets, switches and luminaires, and wire distribution boards to the single line diagram. Every circuit is labelled, tested for continuity and insulation, and recorded on the test sheet before the board is energised. On fit out days you set out from the drawing with a laser and a tape, and you coordinate with the builder so the chases are closed the same week. The day runs 07:00-15:00 with overtime paid separately, and a sixty day trial applies at the start.

Trade school for electricians or equal practice on site

At least two years on building installations

Reading a single line diagram and an installation plan

Continuity, insulation and earth loop testing with a meter

Willing to work on several sites across the city in one week

Basic English for equipment labels and instrument menus

Net salary from 950 up to 1070 EUR per month

Electricians who test and document their own circuits take over a crew of two within two years, and the contractor pays for the licence course that allows an installation to be signed off.

Building sites at fit out stage, so dust, ladders and scaffold towers are part of the day, and the power is off on the section being worked. A helmet, gloves, insulated tools and safety shoes are mandatory.
