Forklift Operator

You move pallets between the receiving ramp, the rack positions and the dispatch lanes on a counterbalance and a reach truck. Before the shift you run the machine check list: forks, mast, chains, horn, brakes and battery level, and you sign it. During the shift you place pallets by location code, read the label on every pallet and correct a wrong position rather than leave it. You recharge or swap the battery at the end of the shift and report any damage to the racking. Shifts are 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00 with a weekly rotation.

Valid forklift licence for a counterbalance truck

Operators who drive the reach truck cleanly for a season are trained on the very narrow aisle machine, which carries a higher rate. The warehouse fills its shift leader posts from among its own drivers.

A heated pallet hall with racking up to eleven metres, marked driving lanes and separated pedestrian paths. The trucks are electric, so there is no exhaust in the hall. Safety shoes, a vest and gloves are worn at all times.
