Hotel Room Attendant

You clean and make up your floor to the hotel standard: strip and change the linen, clean the bathroom and refill the amenities, vacuum, dust and set the room out from the checklist. Departure rooms get the full clean and are reported ready to the housekeeper, who checks a sample of them each day. You keep your trolley stocked and tidy, count the linen you hand to the laundry, and take anything a guest left behind to reception the same hour. Hours are 08:00 to 16:30 with one day off a week, arranged by rota.

A second season puts an attendant forward for floor supervisor, and the hotel moves the steadiest of them into the laundry or the linen store, where the work is easier on the back.

Six floors, each with its own trolley and linen store, are served by one service lift. Gloves, closed shoes and a light uniform are supplied, and the cleaning chemicals arrive ready dosed so nobody mixes them by hand.
