Farm / Crop Field Worker
Agriculture — Évora, Portugal
P-313 · Basic (A2) · 4 openings
Outdoor field work on the plains around Évora, with steady hours and pay that lands above what most farms in the area offer. If you don't mind early starts and working with your hands, the employer wants to talk to you.
About role
You will spend most of the day outdoors on the fields, planting, weeding, thinning and harvesting depending on the season. A lot of the work is by hand, bending and reaching to pick olives, tomatoes, grapes or stone fruit and dropping them into crates without bruising them. You will also haul crates, load trailers, run drip irrigation lines and keep the rows clear. Shifts usually start around 6 in the morning to beat the heat, with a longer break in the early afternoon during summer. Some days you will work alongside a small tractor or a mechanical harvester and help load the bins. Pace picks up sharply at harvest, when the crop has to come in before it spoils.
