CNC Machine Operator

You set up and run CNC lathes and milling machines, mostly Fanuc and Siemens controls, cutting steel and aluminium parts to drawing. A normal day means loading the next program, clamping the blank, dialling in tool offsets, and starting the cycle. You measure the first piece off the machine with calipers and a micrometer, then check parts at set intervals so the batch stays in tolerance. When a tool wears or chips, you swap the insert and reset the offset yourself. Work runs in two shifts, mornings one week and afternoons the next, Monday to Friday with the odd Saturday when orders pile up. You keep the work area swept, the coolant topped up, and you log any machine fault for the maintenance crew.

At least two years operating CNC lathes or mills on your own

Reading technical drawings and knowing GD&T basics

You start at 990 EUR net a month. Once you can set up jobs without a hand and run a second machine on your own, pay moves up toward 1150 EUR net. Strong operators are first in line when a shift lead spot opens.

The shop floor is a covered hall with overhead cranes for the heavier stock. It gets warm in summer and the machines are loud, so ear protection and safety boots are worn all shift. The crew is small, around fifteen people per shift, and the supervisor works the floor with you rather than from an office.
