Seasonal Agricultural Worker
Agriculture — Osijek, Croatia
P-217 · Basic (A2) · 4 openings
Outdoor work on farmland just outside Osijek, with steady hours through the harvest season. If you don't mind early starts and being on your feet, the pay here lands above what most farms in the region offer.
About role
You start around 6 am while it's still cool, mostly picking, sorting and packing whatever is in season, from early strawberries through to autumn apples and cabbage. Some days you hoe rows by hand and pull weeds, other days you load full crates onto trailers and ride out with the tractor crew. During harvest peaks you help feed produce into the grading line and stack pallets in the cold store. There is regular work clearing irrigation lines and laying drip tape across the fields. Shifts run roughly eight hours with a longer break in the midday heat, and the pace picks up on collection days when the buyer's truck is due. You won't be doing the same thing every week, the job follows the crop.
Who's a fit?
Fit enough for full days of bending, lifting and standing
Comfortable working outside in heat, rain and early mornings
Careful hands for picking and sorting without damaging produce
Willing to learn simple tools: hoes, crates, drip tape, hand carts
Reliable timekeeping, especially on harvest and collection days
Basic English is enough, the rest you pick up on site
Benefits
Shared accommodation arranged near the farm, with a small deduction explained up front
Daily transport from the housing to the fields
One hot meal on full working days
Work gloves, boots and wet-weather gear provided
Help with the paperwork and registration when you arrive
Promotion terms
You start at 1090 EUR net per month. Once you know the rounds and can run a picking section on your own, pay rises toward 1250 EUR net, usually within a season or two. Workers who stay reliable through harvest are the first ones the employer calls back next year, often as crew leads.
Work environment
This is open-field and orchard work on flat farmland in the Slavonia plain, so expect full sun in summer and mud after rain. The cold store and packing shed give you shade and shelter on the hottest afternoons. It's physical and dusty, but the crew is small and you always know who you're working next to.
