Kitchen Assistant

You wash, peel and cut vegetables to the size the cook asks for, portion the cold starters and keep the fridges stocked and labelled with the date. In the dish wash section you run the machine, sort the cutlery and carry clean trays back to the line. Floors and surfaces are cleaned after every service, and waste is separated into the bins for oil, packaging and food. Shifts are 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00 with a weekly rotation.

Finished primary school, no catering school required

Valid sanitary book, or willingness to obtain one in the first month

Assistants who learn the cold section move on to salads and starters, and the hotel sends one assistant a year to the cooking course at its own cost.

A warm kitchen with steam from the dish machine, wet tiled floors and long periods standing. Non slip shoes, an apron, a cap and rubber gloves are supplied and replaced when worn.
