A furniture plant at Trn near Banja Luka makes kitchen and bedroom units for buyers in Germany and Austria and is hiring carpenters for the machine room and the assembly bench. The materials are chipboard, MDF and solid beech. Two shifts, permanent contract after the trial.
About role
In the machine room you feed the panel saw from the cutting plan, run the edges through the bander and drill the dowel and hinge holes on the multi head machine. At the bench you square the carcass, fit the hinges and the drawer runners and check that every door sits with an even gap. Each unit is checked against the order card before it is wrapped and labelled for the pallet. Two shifts run 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00 with a weekly rotation.
Who's a fit?
Trade school as a carpenter or a completed trade course
At least two years in furniture production or a joinery workshop
Reading a cutting plan and a unit drawing with hole positions
Panel saw, edge bander and drilling machine handling
Fitting hinges, runners and handles to an even gap
Willingness to rotate two shifts every week

Promotion terms
A carpenter who learns the machine settings becomes a setter for the panel saw and the bander, which is the highest grade on the floor below the shift leader.
Work environment
A dry hall with extraction on every machine, wood dust in the air and constant noise from the saw and the bander. A dust mask, ear plugs, gloves and safety shoes are issued and worn all shift.
