MIG/MAG Welder

You weld steel assemblies in MIG/MAG with 1.2 mm wire under a mixed shielding gas. Parts arrive tacked from the fitter, you check the fit against the drawing, set the current and wire speed for the plate thickness, and run the seam in the order the welding sheet gives. Each piece is cleaned of spatter, ground where the drawing asks for it, and stamped with your number before it goes to paint. Rejected seams are gouged out and rewelded the same shift. Shifts are 07:00-16:00 and 16:00-01:00, and you report to the welding foreman.

Trade school for welding or metalwork

Valid MIG/MAG certificate for fillet and butt welds

At least two years in a fabrication shop

Reading a technical drawing and welding symbols

Grinding, gouging and correcting a rejected seam

Willing to rotate the morning and afternoon shift

Basic English for machine menus and consumable labels

Net salary from 700 up to 770 EUR per month

Welding jacket, gloves, automatic helmet and safety shoes

A welder who passes the certificate for thicker plate takes on the tank seams, which are paid at the top of the band, and the shop picks its welding foremen from the bay. The plant pays every certificate.

A welding bay with a torch extraction arm at every station, welding curtains between the booths and a crane for the heavy frames. An automatic helmet, welding jacket and gloves are issued by the employer.
