Facade Painter

You prepare the wall before any paint goes on: scraping loose coats, filling with gypsum, sanding, and taping the windows and the floor. Outside you glue and dowel EPS boards, pull the base coat with mesh, and finish with silicate or silicone render in the agreed colour. Inside you roll two coats of dispersion paint and cut the edges by hand. The crew moves between two or three sites a week, works 07:00-16:00 with a half hour break, and takes the daily order from the crew lead.

Trade school as a painter, plasterer or facade fitter

At least two seasons of work on scaffold

Painters who learn to set out and cost a facade job move to crew lead for the next season, and the firm keeps its steadiest crews on through the winter for interior work.

Most of the season is spent outdoors on frame scaffold, two to four floors up, with a mixing station at ground level. Harness, helmet, dust mask and gloves are mandatory and issued before the first climb.
